Satueday morning, I sat down near the window of the cafe in the campus, reading some material. Suddenly, someone knocked the glass of the window. I looked up, a small fellow was showing a big smile to me, a blonde kid.

"Hi," I smiled back. Then he tried to entered the room, with pushing the door hardly.
"What's your name?" He came to my table.
"Jessica, what's your name?" I looked at my little guest, smiling.
"Klein", he showed me a big smile again.
"Nice to meet you, Klein, how old are you?" I stretched out to shake his hand.
"Four and half ", he started to show a little bit shy, "but will be five soon!" He showed up pride immediately. "How old are you?"
"Emm...Guess?"
"Seventeen? Or maybe twenty-one..." He looked at me seriously.
"Oh, you are so clever!" I was delighted simply for the disappearing years. The Pillippine baby-sitter nearby couldn't help laughing.
"Where do you want to go?" He noticed I was preparing to leave.
"Library. But you don't go to school today?" I like the small guy with tring to pretend mature.
"No, not today. Can I see you next time, maybe?" He followed me.
"Yes, sure! See you next time, Klein." I waved my hand to the youngest gentleman I have met.
"Have a nice day! Have fun in school..." He waved hands again and again.

Happy birthday to myself!

Among all the past 27 birthdays, this year will be most grateful:

For my parents, they gave me birth, and supportive even many times they don't understand me at all with holding on completely different values, now that naughty little girl had learnt to balance to be an adult, although sometimes still a kid inside her; wish you will be happy all the time like i am now.

For my dearest friends, with all of you, I could conquer so many confusions and difficulties one by one on all the way, even now you are all world-wide settled. G, wish you are happy always in Montreal, I still remember last birthday, we had a brunch at the french restaurant in Guangzhou. You are always bringing me inspiration and courage for adventure.

For those people influenced my life, it is the past that formed me today, even this ME is not perfect yet, but she wants to be better and better, until achieved all the dreams she has been desiring. No matter what happened in your lives now, wish all of you as grateful as i am now.

Last night, at the senior common room, I met one prosperous and respectable lady, the former secretary for justice of HKSAR, Ms. Elsie Leung. Her speech is quite composed, organized and imperturbable. Exactly like my impression of the typical Hong Kong female elite, she is wise, elegant but down to earth. It is such a bonus that I can get to know about so many social fields widely ranging since I moved to Hong Kong. I'm not only focusing on the design field anymore. It is too narrow and too close if one person ignore all the things happened around and only living in his/her own world.

For the coming birthday, I bought myself a gift, the DVD of confessions tour of Madonna. It is an incredible show. Who can image the "girl" of 48 is still in such a soft body and with the eternal artistic passion and stage power. Timeless and spaceless, seldom woman influenced this world like she did, conquered countless failures and achieved the peak. No matter how many criticisms attacked her in the early life, she insisted her own way and obtained all the respects from beings those used to take her as a "bitch". Now, the bitch is the Baby In Total Control of Herself.

Fearless, diligent, self-conscious, constant and endless improving, inspiring, creative, brave, revolutionary, courageous, independent, that is her, the unique Madonna!

Perfect balance

Half year now, since I moved to Hong Kong. I still remember when I was leaving from Guangzhou, how many conflicts were in my life at that period! If I have to say, the shift to HK is the tuning point of my life, then this moment is my perfect balance, the tuning point of turning point. I am fearless and can accept any unexpected thing which run into my life now. This is a fabulous feeling I never felt, the control sense.

Next month, I would be 27, 27 years young. I feel so much appreciation for all the people I have met in my life no matter who brought me happiness or sadness, for all the events or ripples I have experienced no matter which push me in the sky or fall me down to the ground. I am in complete peace of mind.

Dear God, thank you make me achieve this day which I have longed for for a long long time.

Sunday morning, after enjoying the breakfast, I start to clean up some stuff for my small home after 5 months lived in Hong Kong. In life, there are always something old, something new, something active, something passive, something positive, something... maybe looks negative at the moment and don't turn up yet, but, to move on is always better than to stay still probably.

Since the first day I chose to leave hometown to go out for seeing the world, I have known I had chosen an adventurous road. Wish to achieve double or treble surprise, excitement and success, then have to pay for four times or five times working hard and countless failures. That's life, unfair, but I chose.

Never thought after a decade, I m still on such a hard way. It makes me feel frustrated, but also be proud of myself. The future, maybe a little bit different now, I don't want to just be a passenger any more but should be a visitor. Lack of safe-sense makes me feel, the only safe-sense is existing in my inside. People should take the responsibility of their actions.

I'm not so much fear of future now.

想写点什么，今天，发泄良久以来的压抑和渴望晴天的心情。

好多事情堆积在心里，没有说出来的机会和合适的对象。

Never thought i would meet Mr. Donnie Yen in a club. He is one of my favourite hong kong movie star, charming and understated with noble elegance. At first glimpse, i didn't recognize him, he was smaller than i thought of, while still with healthy tan and in good shape. When my friend told me the man there was my favourite movie star, i felt so surprised. But i was not a crazy fan, just smiled and enjoyed that moment.

How far is the L.O.V.E?

This title is from one of my friends' blog... I'm thinking about it too.

Sometimes, i feel the people's heart is the most complicated stuff in the world, while sometimes i feel it's purest. It's nothing to do with the person but indeed with the time and to whom. For the same objective person, in different period, the feeling also will change. Sometimes you trust one person but sometimes with full suspected.

What is the love? what is the trust? what is the supporting? what is the affection? when one day, you pull through all the feelings, will you still believe in that faith? Almost all the experienced people told us, love can rebirth, like our skin, like our hair, like our nail, love is nothing but love is everything!

Just live like usually you do, love will visit you! Love is exactly out of the door, as long as you open that door, with full of appreciation to be alive.

Hong Kong banks

Countless and diversified banks in Hong Kong, is one of the most impressive things to me after my arrival. Maybe for majority of Chinese people, the most familiar bank is the Bank of China. Even in our text book, the China Bank Tower is the symbol of Hong Kong. But here, I found not at all...

First, the most popular bank is HSBC or Heng Sheng Bank. It obviously can be judged at the lunch time. The banks of HSBC or Heng Sheng are crowed with customers, while efficiently and well-organized. At the same time in the business hall of BoC, i can only see several old couples or people from mainland. Anyway, that's good for me, i enjoy low human density even seldom did i in mainland...

Second, lots of international people still trust mostly in Citibank, or equally, I heard it is good for discount when you really do some spending. Well, maybe that's not the point... but the point is, I really appreciate the free and healthy economic system in Hong Kong. Also, not official tone, I admire the wisdom of Mr. Deng Xiao Ping, who composed the one nation, two systems.

That's true, it is like stay with different people, you have to have your own opinion, but what's more, you have to respect other's different opinions. Tolerance is a virtue for human beings.

Autumn

November 1st, after I arrived Hong Kong for about two months, I felt a little bit cool eventually, like the real autumn... Not similar as north, well i mean north of the Northern Hemisphere, for example my home town, the tropic only have two seasons, long long summer and short winter.

For example in Guangzhou, the southern city of China, the alternation of summer and winter always ranges within one week. T-shirt or coat, that's all the choices. It caused me doubted about the brand shops. Because the brands made in Minano, for instance, are generally based on the seasons globally, then who will support those luxury helpless garments? That's constantly making my curiosity. Fortunately, Guangzhou is an open metropolis nationally, there are always sufficient visitors to do the shopping. I suppose these group of people must be the major of buyers.

Different from Guangzhou, Hong Kong is a seashore city. Influenced by the Pacific Ocean, the local climate is much softer than Guangzhou, also with wind blowing. I heard in New York City, the autumn is the most sentimental period because of the fall of the yellow leaves. While accompanied by the local evergreen trees, I felt little seasonal sentiment.

But the ocean, as vast golden mirror reflecting the grand sunset with invisible boundary, it always cause my emotion of vacancy. The power of nature, is splendidly unconquerable.

Once, a friend of mine said to me, my photography generally is OK, but some pictures are not accurate enough, like the focus, like the balance of composition, like the preliminary subject... I appreciate so many professional suggestions from him, and he is one of the photography fever patients i known. It can be judged directly from his equipments, supporter, films, all sorts of lenses for all kinds of occasions, several camera-companions, preparing overnight for one satisfied sunrise image... I really admire his attitude of devotion.

But for me, i admit my photography is rough, sometimes a little bit obscure, but i just enjoy the moment of shooting, the atmosphere from lens... Camera is like my third eye, I'm not a rational machinist, the results of photography are always surprise... That's mean sometimes i thought that would be a nice one, but it turned out average; while sometimes i shot by chance, but proved to be an incredible one... I would never know the answer in advance, the only thing i can do is just keeping shooting... Also sometimes, the story is really what i'm concerning about, not only the visual scenery.

That's not my excuse for the loose works. Maybe comparable to the painting, his work is like classical oil-painting, mine is more like sketching; or on the other words, his is like a movie made in Hollywood by Dream Works, whereas mine is more like an independent film; his is from album disc, mine is from live show... Anyway, we are just for fun, ain't we? :)

Suddenly, i found i had held this designer dream for twelve years since i was 14. For all these years, after experienced hopeful and hopeless, i feel really an eternal flame inside me for insisting the desire and keeping the faith. I'm lucky if a dream-keeper is one of the happiest human beings. Even with the following decades rest in my life, i will continue this way definitely, with all my passion devoted.

Maybe a hope is the extension of life for the unrealized dreams;
a dream is the relief of overload for the unspoken promises;
and a promise is the access of spirit for the immortalized hopes.

This is also a part of real Hong Kong, not only fancy cars, smart white-collars and luxury brands. Urban design, distinguished from all the other fashionable designs, is concerned to care for the fragile group, and can't be only served for the hierarchy. This is a real responsible field. Deterioration, that's social phenomena, even we are reluctant to face it sometimes.

I have heard a joke, for some reasons, it is always eventually architect become artist while urban planner unfortunately become politician... Urban design is happened to be between... God, sounds terrible futures for both!

But, who can tell me why Ram Koolhass is called politician now? Politicize, shall we?

In our lives, there are too many nonsense things. Seems the only thing we can make sense is just alive. Of course we will experience something meaningful and cheerful, but some things, even known nonsense, we still think about it years and years, just don't want let them go, while some things, we know them important and significant, but ignore and postpone them again and again... Then what's the sense to be alive? I'm not a pessimist, but always feel confused by the hustle-and-bustle life.

When we feel frustrated by those unrealized dreams, what's the power and strength encourage us to continue the primitive lane way? Are human beings always the creatures of vanity?

Last night, there was an exceptional address given by contemporary great architects Tod Williams and his wife and partner Billie Tsien. At the ending, beyond the issue of architectural design, the remarks made me feel awake," never chase to be covered or super hero, you should be aware of what you are doing, you are create something longer than your life." Architecture is not philosophy, but i can find a little bit answer of confusions.

"Why do you want to study Urban Design?" Instructor asked me."I want to find a special way to intergrate all my working experience, then move on a new way for future career, but now, I don know myself neither..." That's true, even myself, at this moment, don't know which way should be my future. That's also why I'm here.

Something is in dark, i'm blind; but something i can feel it, even if it's still blur, at least, i do be serious for the dream, for the moment, Although i know secious doesn't mean a ticket for anything...

But what's the reason for people are far away from hometown like nomad, like migrant birds? What is the truth of dream or future? Is there always some reason of stimulation to chase or reluctant to see? Anyway, take a journey, is not a bad idea for taking a breath. As to the future, maybe wait to think about until it comes.

Yellow, is one of my favorite songs by Coldplay. As the hottest popular British band currently, they composed many songs well known, but I never feel bored by this Yellow.

At first couple of days after my arrival, there was a storm come by. With sudden cool raining, I missed Guangzhou, the city where i have ever stayed for four years. People are always complaining about her disorder, but i feel more and more the truth that it is exactly her personality, a tolerant and relaxing place.

There is never ever a city i have met where i could do some shopping at twelve o'clock in the evening. With all the funny people i had met, we went to plenty of funny places. Now looking back those funny concealed places for shopping and entertainment, it's a little bit sense of black humor.

Now, all the things are called yellow.

Lamma island, doggies' paradise, is half hour boat's riding. With the shining sunset reflecting on the sea surface. I took this photo near the ferry pier. It was my first time to see such a golden sunset on boat, so quiet and wide, splendid sky, never like in Hong Kong island.

Generally, Hong Kong is a place where always surprise you when you feel tired and frustrated about life. Lots of strangers, but most of them looks special individually, especially Hong Kong women, I always feel some stories behind those calm faces and elegant poses, but nobody looks depressed, at least seems like that.

Maybe, that's a positive mask for pull through the hard time .

Lane Crawford is always the symbol of Hong Kong Fashion, Like this poster, really dramatic. It's remind me a remark from one advertisement, "Love me, or Never!"

Fashion, is people's life attitude, but fashion is just fashion, not live or die. In central, too many boutiques controlled passengers' eyes, especially Chanel, prada,LV... a fashion's world..

Every season for new arrivals, all the shop windows are like playing live show. As a designer, I love to watch they are built, displayed, put on sale sign cautiously and alternated eventually.. like any creature. That's life, that's living resource of design.

Some magazine has mentioned, this century is a design century, fashion industry will be in charge of people's life like music and movie did before. What do you think about it, don't want to be involved? Don mind..But by the way, sweetie, have you fashioned today?

People say it is a place belongs to night, while the right moment i enjoy most is her peaceful and hopeful morning. Smart pedestrians with smart suits, rushing into their way to office towers and skyscrapers; all the bars are closed down, remaining the smell of perfume and cocktail last night;

I am sitting in a small corner nearby a huge window with hot coffee, that's so luxury for such a pleasure morning. Some times, I 'm thinking, is we designed urban, or urban designed us?

In Hong Kong such a crazy city, people work hard, play hard and eat good, that's truly an attractive metropolitan life style. But I always love the leisure time, is that mean i can never suit this city? Can we ever balance this crazy beat and mind in peace?

Recently, during these boring days waiting for my permit, I'm reading a book, A Year In Provence.This is a really fresh book, I love the light and funny describes about one trip for the author's soul vacation.

As a busy city man, he abandoned his high-salary work in New York and London, moved to South France for looking back the simple and happy life he had lost. That sounds like an inspiration to me, yes, one year in Hong Kong, It's so special to me, maybe busy but simple and quiet, that's what i need most...
